Perfect location - Macy's, Times Square, Empire State Building etc. all within a 10-15 minute walk. The subway (Penn Station) is less than 2 mins walk away which was really convenient for us to travel downtown or uptown to Central Park. I thought the bed and pillows were the comfiest i've had at a hotel and the mini-fridge was really useful for somewhere to put our drinks. Local breakfast places within 5-7 mins walk: - Liberty Bagels (delicious) - Best Bagel & Coffee (delicious) - The Bread Factory (great bagels, great service, wide selection of snacks and drinks) - Andrew's NYC Diner (delicious french toast/omlettes/pancakes, go before 08:00 - 09:30 to beat the queues) My top tip - wake up early to walk across Brooklyn Bridge for sunrise (get a bagel from Liberty Bagels round the corner before it gets busy, jump on the A / C line (middle platform) downtown to High St. Brooklyn and walk back towards Manhattan). You'll be downtown and can choose to explore Chinatown / Wall Street etc. The location of this hotel makes this really convenient. Other local places: - 7/11 (2 mins walk away, really convenient for us to stock up on snacks & drinks) - Steak Frites Bistro (delicious dinner, 5 mins walk) - 2 Bros Pizza (great for a lunch / quick late dinner) - Jollibee (delicious for lunch) - Madison Square Garden (basketball was fun and the quickest you'll be home from a sporting event) - Macy's (go to some shopping! 5 mins walk)

The location was very central for midtown Manhattan, lots of places to eat nearby and a short walk away from Times Square. The room was quite small but I think this is the norm in NYC, that being said it was fine for 2 of us, there was plenty of tea/coffee provisions which was replenished each day, the bed and pillows were super clean and comfy, the bathroom was a good size with a nice walk in shower, plenty of hot water and lots of complimentary products to use. We were on the 25th floor with a view of the Empire State Building (2501) you could still hear the sirens on the street below but it didn’t keep us awake you get used to all the sirens, they’re continuous! There were 3 lifts servicing the rooms and we had no problems getting one when required. We didn’t eat at the hotel so can’t comment on the food but we did have drinks on the roof terrace which had amazing views of the city. We arrived at the hotel by taxi from JFK which said it was a flat rate of $70 but in fact cost $89 plugs a tip! We decided to get the train and air train back which cost about $12. You can get the LIRR at Penn St station (which is about a 10 minute walk from the hotel) to Jamaica and then you get the air train to JFK, it’s really quite easy and takes about 1 hour in total.

Check-in isn't until 4 pm but we arrived just after 1 pm. The reception staff were all very happy and friendly and they checked us in, then allowed us to wait in a seating area and gave us some bottles of water and their customary Cookie. Within 15 minutes our rooms were ready. We stayed here to celebrate my birthday and watch Macy's Parade and experience New York for the first time. We opted for an Empire State Building and wow it was fab - Reception had also left a small single-glass bottle of champagne and a slice of cheesecake for my birthday, which was unexpected but a lovely thought. Our room was very clean and did have a desk chair, suit suitcase stand and Wardrobe. It had a coffee machine which can be used to heat two cups of water so we used that for tea-making. The hotel is close to all the main attractions ie Times Square, Empire State, The Rock etc and Central Park was only a 30 minute walk. We felt it was in a safe neighbourhood. Rooftop bar area had wonderful views all without needing to buy any food or drink. The room was cleaned every day with new towels etc. Our view to the Empire State was magnificent

The Doubletree by Hilton Times Square South was a nice stay for my husband and I as we celebrated our anniversary. They even surprised us with prosecco, cheesecake, and chocolate-covered strawberries - which was very sweet. As to be expected, the rooms were small but comfy (we managed fine) but that is normal for NYC I hear. The hotel reached out multiple times to make sure everything was ok, and we had a lovely view of the Empire State building as we booked a higher floor. The hotel is walking distance from many restaurants as well as the high line, Hudson Yards, and even Chelsea Market. It is also close to Penn Station which made getting around to other parts of the city easy too. We enjoyed the coffee they provided and the cookie upon arrival too :). The rooftop bar was also a nice spot for happy hour, not all hotels have a rooftop bar with a view so we enjoyed that! The hotel also has an ice and water machine (which they didn't tell us about up front) and they aren't on all floors so that is worth knowing - but it was great to have a water machine and not have to just drink out of the tap!

Handy midtown location and great views from the room (I booked a room with a view) and in particular the rooftop bar. The room and bathroom were nice and comfortable, with nice lighting and good blackout curtains as well as a sheer curtain, and I didn't notice any noise from other rooms or the corridor. I appreciated having a wardrobe and fridge in the room. The staff were friendly.
